Harlan and Wilda's Trip: Barcelona. July 2004
Frankly, I am cathedraled out...every town you go to in Europe has this
unique huge Cathedral all have to go see.....after about ten thats
it...all have this... "Huge inside" must be twenty storys tall inside...and
most have little very plain
wooden benches in bad shape... inside.. most not even varnished....
makes you seem kind of small and worthless I think...
Anway, Barceleona Cathedral is supposed to be different so we had to
go see it...The architect had other buildings and houses...around town
he had designed..they pointed out on double deck bus audio you listen to
with headphones and pick your language.... most were curvy like
gingerbread houses...etc
like maybe he used a rubber ruler...or something..
This cathedral is so new it has not been finished... never been
used...roof not finished yet...We paid like 15 bucks to go inside and
all you see is scaffolding...worlds largest collection of really high
scaffolding...one little portion is finished... which I have high
ceiling pics of ...here. The first pic of spires could not get it all
in from that point so shot two...combine the first two to see the front
or the back not sure what this end is... this place is concrete...
We came out the other side (after worlds largest collection of
scaffolding) which has more photos...even though we still had tickets
would not let us go back thru..where we started from....to come back out
entered side... so we had to walk around...it... actually i think that
is the front though i do not know how you tell....
From a distance away the second end looks like there was a concrete
explosion before it set up..
The architect died but they are still trying to finish it...not sure
why....
